I once thought of suicide

As an exceptionally selfish act

Leaving those left behind

Hurting

Cheated of my presence

But as I have aged

And my life is more about

Pain and loss than joy and hope

I realize that suicide isn’t a selfish act

But the ultimate act of reclamation

And final declaration of self

Speaking truth to a world of lies

To acknowledge that the reality

I have accepted

Is only a distraction

A mere veil at the edge of the void

Anytomorrow
