Before The Big Bang

Question for today:  What happened before the Big Bang?  Everything must have come from something.  Even God came from something.  What do you think?

  1. This is a really fascinating question. And even though it seems like none of us will really come to know the answer anytime soon, I think many find themselves pondering such things.
To submit that God came from something is certainly an assertion that many people would possibly find offensive. And I would say that I fell into that train of thought maybe 15 to 20 years ago. Many would insist that God is fabricated by man. I believe this is probably true quite often. We all have our own version of looking at the world around us and trying to make sense of it. So did god come from something? Did man make him up? Or it up? Or her up? Or did god not come from anything, but as many might assert, God has always been there in his/her entirety. It seems quite reasonable to me, that the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
Anyone familiar with the old testament certainly knows the very first verse. In the beginning. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. What if this is a mistranslation? Just imagine how different the the world would be if rather than saying God created the world, he rather *discovered* it. What if all of us are completely wrong in our perception of what it means to be God?
Wouldn’t it be amazing if each and every one of us had the opportunity to learn, in time, exactly how the universe works in its entirety?
We all know a human life is brief. We all wish we had more time. I really believe that we do have more time. And it could be that we don’t. It seems it is probably not worth anyone’s time to argue with the notion that matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed. And that has been fairly well established at this point. If matter and energy have always existed in some form, then perhaps all of us have existed in some form or another. We therefore would not have any beginning attached to our existence, but rather different phases of our existence. What if all of us have the opportunity to learn exactly how the universe works? What it what it means to be God is to arrive at the point that you do, in fact, know how the system works. And I think it’s very possible that the universe in which we exist in which we are apart was not designed or thought up or engineered in anyway by some supreme being. I think to be a supreme being means that you know everything there is to know. So there are probably countless supreme beings in existence. perhaps we all have the potential to become such a being.
