It is a wet, awful day here in Central Florida.  But it is the perfect day to get caught up on my blog and the other social media I use to talk about my books and stories.  To tell the truth, I haven’t been very good at exploiting social media for marketing.  In fact despite how essential marketing is for an indie writer, I just haven’t been able to wrap my head around that aspect of writing.  I just want to write, stick the results out on Amazon and Smashwords, and get enough sales to let me quit my day job.

Unfortunately as a writer I can recognize that desire for the fantasy that it is.  All is not lost though.  Today I discovered a wonderful resource to help me get control of my social media madness.  Joanna Penn (http://www.thecreativepenn.com/) has a wonderful website that includes free webinars on Social Networking for Authors and Writers and Blogging for Authors and Writers.  I watched the webinar on social networking this morning and found it very helpful.  It answered a lot questions I had about how to best handle my accounts on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.  If you have questions about effectively using social media, you might want to check out the webinars and other resources on the site.

No doubt I’ll be using that new understanding of social media to talk about Any Tomorrow: The Curse, the second eBook in the Any Tomorrow Trilogy.  Any Tomorrow: the Curse is out on Amazon and Smashwords, however Smashwords is still trying to determine if it qualifies for the Premium Catalog.  The Premium Catalog distributes to a number of major eBook retailers including Barnes and Noble, the iStore, Diesel, and others.

I’m still planning on releasing the third and final volume, Any Tomorrow: The Culling, in January 2012.  This won’t be the end of it though, I have several shorter stories featuring some of the characters and themes from the novels in various stages of production.

While all that is happening, I am also in the early stages of writing a new novel.  I have the theme and the setting, all I need to do is more fully form the characters.  After that, the novel is on its own.  I just follow along, document the action, and smooth out the rough edges.  I’ll share more details as things progress.

Oh, and there is one more thing…  My daughter has blessed our family with another granddaughter, Emily Rose.  Both mother and daughter are doing find.  Grandpa is still recovering.
